Title：Analysis of the Reasons for and Precautions against Boiler Coking
Abstract
As far as the coal-burning boiler is concerned, the problem of coking universally found in power plants, affects the economy and safety of the operation of boilers. Many research institutions all over the world and large plants have done a large number of studies on this issue, and proposed many realistic precautions. On the basis of the writer’s several-year-long experiences of operation of boilers, the paper discusses the reasons for and precautions against boiler coking. The paper firstly analyses the mechanism for the formation of coking, and elaborates on its effect upon thermal efficiency of generating unit and output power, and its damages to the safety. The paper goes on with the analysis of several factors influencing coking, including the quality of coal, the temperature of hearth and air dynamic field in hearth, and gives the following appropriate proposals with the actual conditions of the writer’s plant:controlling the coal quality, enhancing the operation, conducting technological innovations, so as to reduce or even prevent coking.
