In the field of electronic technology, the frequency is basic parameter, Frequency of Detection and many of the measurement of electrical parameters have a very close relationship. Therefore, the measurement of frequency is even more important. Digital, intellective, automatic and minitype instruments are the developing trends of modern measure equipment. As a commonly used equipment in the lab, and with its 50 years developing history, frequency meter has become a very typical digital and intellective device and are going to be minitype. When designing an electrical circuit, people always intend to use as little hardware as possible and try to use software to be the substitute of the hardware, for it’s much easier to modify software than hardware.
Frequency of a wide range of applications, not only for the general measurement instruments, can also be applied to industrial control and other areas. This paper introduces the frequency of hardware and software design. Hardware through the use of a microcontroller core AT89S51 control circuits, software design module programming methods used to achieve, mainly completed and the results showed that the frequency measurements. The tools used by Protel and Keil uVision3 in design process.
