Rord-construction and Economic Development in Yulin
(From 1925 to 1990)
Abstract
Yulin is in the south of Guangxi, which locates good. The tide of building roads in this area began in the New Kwangsi Cliques. During the period of the Republic of China, roads were built in large scale, the county government made joint efforts and civilians made their own efforts to build a lot of national roads, provincial roads and roads among counties. After Liberation, a great more of roads among counties had been built in the steady social environment and the new national policies. In the end of 1990, Yulin district had built up a crisscross road net which leads in all darections. The convenient traffic roads have made great difference in Yulin. First, it changes the means of transportation, allows people to use cars, which is a new traffic tool to the locals. Second, it enlarges the locals’ activity area, which is advantageous to business, accelerates the formation of business central. It also promotes the Planting business. The importance of road transportation becomes more and more outstanding in the national economy.
