On Qing Dynasty’s Honest and Clean History Facts of Famous Official Yu Chenglong
Abstract
Not only was Yu Chenglong a famous official during the period of Emperor Shun Zhi and Emperor Kang Xi, who was called “the first incorruptible feudal official in the world” by Kang Xi, but also was deeply revered for his full talent. Yu Chenglong went to Guangxi Luo Cheng and served as a chief executive in the year of 1661 (18th year of the reign of Shun Zhi) and lasted seven years. During his presidency, firstly, he rectified the public security, banned the robbers and maintained social order, he reformed the old political systems next, improved the life of people; he also paid great attention to education and improved people’s cultural cultivation. By researching, there are some main causes clean governance, first of all, Ming and Qing Dynasties were the age of Neo-Confucianism, Yu Chenglong was influenced by the Neo-Confucianism in early years; second, the Ming and Qing Dynasties had learned a lesson from the toppling of the Ming Dynasty, they advocated incorruption, placed great importance on official management, which provided a clean and honest administration for him to exploit his talent; third, the personal cultivation of Yu Chenglong. In conclusion, Yu Chenglong made great and distinguished achievements in politics during his tenure of the chief executive that it provided Guangxi the most valuable resources for the construction of clean government culture.
