The Research on the Transformable Hakka’s Clan——Take the Clan Zhong in Yanxu Bobai as an Example
Abstract
The Zhong in Yanxu is a Hakka’s clan developed in the southeastern Guangxi. The clan started in Yanxu Bobai since mid-Ming Dynasty. Then experiencing exploitation and development, its scale enlarged and its strength was strong enough to affect the local area in late Qing Dynasty. After reform and open, the clan’s activities were reliving up. Under this condition, the clan Zhong in Yanxu presented a revival trend, such as repair the clan hall, compiles pedigree of the clan. Compared with the traditional clan, the clan Zhong in the economic sources and the ancestral forms of organization hangers has taken place after the transition. And in the economic, organizational and cultural functions of engagement of the modern village of governance have an important impact. The revival clan isn’t the single repeat and copy of the traditional clan form, but a new form for the purpose to meet the changes of modern society gradually, and will not die with the modern transformation.
