With the rapid development of science and technology, touch-screen technology has become more and more popular in the information appliances, public information query, communications, office automation applications and so on. A touch screen provides a computer user with an input interface that doesn’t require extensive computer skills or literacy.
This thesis introduces the concept of touch screen, its classification, application and performance, emphasizing on the design of a touch sensitive noughts-and-crosses using a single-chip microcomputer(SCM) system. Each side of the chessboard is line with 3 infrared transmitters or 3 infrared receivers, thus create a 3 by 3 touch sensitive board for noughts-and-crosses. When user pressed on this touch sensitive board with his finger, the horizontal and vertical infrared will be blocked. So the SCM can immediately calculate the location of touch points, then turn on the corresponding LED. And a touch sensitive noughts-and-crosses is achieved finally.
