The application of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy in Mental Health Education at middle school
【Abstract】Although the aim of mental health education at middle school is to achieve the goal of students based on their own strength or ability to solve problems, in today’s consulting practice, the pathological tendency of medical treatment modalities are still occupying a dominant position. there is no doubt that many students have already benefited from this “pathology-oriented” treatment, but they have to bear negative labels such as “mental illness”, “lack of capacity”, “lack of learning ability”. Emphasis on individual pathology means that the students seem to have some problems, resulting in reduction of students’ self-efficacy, which make it more difficult for them to adjust to the difficulties that need to be addressed. Therefore, it is meaningful to try to use SFBT(Solution-Focused Brief Therapy),which the focus of positive psychology tend to, to take place of the pathological mode of consultation. The Solution-Focused Brief Therapy is a technique of consultation but emphasizes on students utilizing their successful experiences and resource to resolve problems, providing a solution faster than other therapies.Combined the analysis of relevant literature with a few cases I have received, I’d like to talk something about how to apply the technique of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy counseling work at middle school.
