Abstract: This paper introduces the design of multipurpose measurer . it measures cyclical signal such as frequency ,cycle ,voltage average value or voltage tip-to-tip value of sinusoidal wave, triangular wave, ladder wave, saw-tooth wave, pulse signal and oblique wave which frequency ranges from 64Hz to 1MHz.
The system uses super high speed video flash A/D converter to sample the voltage data of two passages signal to be measured. It adopts 4*4 keyboards for inputting signal of choosing passages or items to be measured, two groups of LED display for displaying all measured data. The system uses FPGA as center process unit which uses a new design method of absolute software to achieve signal rectifying ,complete processing of frequency, cycle ,voltage average value or voltage tip-to-tip value , and communicating between keyboard, LED display and A/D converte.
EP1K10 by Altera is used as core chip. And all the design is programmed with MAX+PLUS in VHDL. With simply hardware the system is easy to adjust and achieve. Tests prove that the system meets the requirements.
