As one of the major tea-producing provinces in China, Zhejiang Province occupies an important position in China's tea exports. Among the agricultural exports, Zhejiang is the province with more exports. Among its many export agricultural products, tea accounts for the majority. The impact of tea exports is large for Zhejiang, and the economic benefits are also considerable. In recent years, competition in the domestic and international beverage markets has become increasingly fierce. The sales of Zhejiang tea have been challenged in many ways, while the EU, the US and Japan are major players.
Since China’s accession to the World Trade Organization, China’s foreign trade has been continuously strengthened. With the concept of green trade barriers and the adoption of serious trade protection measures by importing countries, it has caused some impact on China’s foreign trade. It also brought a series of bad consequences to the tea export trade in Zhejiang Province. As a result, the export and foreign trade of the whole agricultural products in Zhejiang Province showed a downward trend, which had a bad influence on the income of farmers in Zhejiang Province and the Zhejiang economy. Zhejiang Province, as China's current major exporter of tea, plays a very important role in the export of foreign trade in China's tea industry. This paper analyzes the current situation of Zhejiang tea export trade, finds out the problems of Zhejiang tea export trade, and puts forward countermeasures to improve the international competitiveness of Zhejiang tea industry and increase tea export trade in Zhejiang Province.
