The design for a virtual digital clock based on labview
Abstract: Due to the emergence of virtual instruments, the mode which traditional instrument can only be defined by manufacturers and can not changed by the user, is broken thoroughly. With the rapid development of computer and network technology, the virtual instrument has become a developing trend of modern electronic measuring instruments.
The digital clock is a counting device which can be realized on displaying hours, minutes and seconds time by using digital circuits. In digital logic circuits, the construction of digital clocks has its typical significance.
Virtual instruments have advantages which the traditional instruments cannot match. In the measuring field, virtual instruments can be used to replace a part the work of independent instruments, to acquire the automated test in a complex environment, to accomplish the incompetent task for traditional independent instruments.
In this paper the software development environment LabVIEW of the virtual instrument and the composition principle of virtual digital clocks are introduced firstly. Boolean logic volumes and operators of LabVIEW are taken full advantage for building modules of virtual digital clock, such as counting modules and correcting time modules etc. Each bottom module can be called by high-level functions of VI for realization of a virtual digital clock.
