ABSTRACT
as the core component of a transmitter, RF power amplifier is the key factor to restrict the function of the whole system and technical level. Applied to WCDMA and CDMA2000 and with 880MHz and 20W output power, the base station RF power amplifier is designed. My main contributions are as follows:
1. The technical indicators, technical requirements and general design methods of the RF power amplifier are introduced. 2. A single stage RF power amplifier circuit using ADS software is designed. Unique broadband matching circuit diagram and optimization of multi-objective co-design methodology are used to effectively balance the characteristics between various parameters. On these bases, the balanced power amplifier is devised and some comparisons are made.
3. PCB board is designed using Protel. Analyzed the radiation, crosstalk, resonance on the PCB, the layout of the RF power amplifier is planed according to principle of electromagnetic compatibility. In addition, the shielding box for cooling and shielding is designed.
4. The bias circuit of the RF power amplifier is measured and the measurement program is proposed, including the measurement of the output power, single tone signal and dual tone signals
