The Design of portable electrode tip dresser

Abstract
Electrodes will be eroded slowly by the high temperature or the heat during the welding and then comes a series of problems. Precision and quality of the welding can be no longer guaranteed. So,a device is needed to restore a worn electrode to a desired geometry. Dressing as follows: An electrode with an eroded end is positioned proximate the cutter ,and the eroded end gets in touch with the cutter blade tightly. After a period of time, the eroded end is shaped into a dressed tip by the rotating cutter.
This paper relates to a kind of tip dressing device,and more particularly to a portable tool that would be used to shape the surfaces of the welding electrodes. Dressing equipment can be implemented through a variety of methods:robotically,indexed,or stationary(robotic gun),manually and so on.Two diffirent design methodes of tip dresser are mainly designed and compared in this paper. Simultaneously, the drawing sorfware Unigraphics (UG) is used to present the parts and assembly drawings .
