Warp and weft density of fabric is one of the index to measure the quality of fabric. At present, because of the using of artificial ways, there will be some subjectivity inevitably. Therefore, this paper proposes to research the warp and weft density of fabric and achieve the quantitative measurement of indicators and automation by using digital image technology (mainly the theory of mathematical morphology) .
This paper presents a new method for fabric density analysis by using the mathematical morphology. It firstly describes the basic operations of mathematical morphology, and then presents the methods of image filtering based on mathematical morphology, image enhancing, image extracting of warp and weft, binary and thinning. Finally, we could get the warp and weft density of fabric density through further analysis and measurements to warp and weft images.
It can be seen from the analysis of the results that the warp and weft density by using the mathematical morphology is basically same as the artificial recognition. And the algorithm analysis process is simple and higher efficient, and it has some application value.
