1. Introduction
Research background
American heroes can be seen as a unique cultural phenomenon in the United States. This paper is to make a research into this topic and find a cultural explanation for the characteristics of American heroes by combining them with American spirit.
Up to now, the domestic studies on American heroes are abundant and they are mainly concentrated on the analysis of heroes in American movies and American literature from the perspective of individualistic heroism and cultural peculiarities (Li Caijin, 2011; Li Lizhen, 2012; Li Hong, 2013; Liu Xiaotong, 2015; Zou Cuiping, 2016, Zhou Tian , 2017; Wang Shuqin, 2017; etc.). The studies abroad on American heroes are relatively fewer than domestic studies, which mainly focus on the philosophical, cultural, political and psychological aspects to analyze the constitution of typical American heroes (Richard Reynolds, 1992; J.S. Lawrence & R. Jewett, 2002; Lauren N. Karp, 2012; etc.).
