Abstract: In every aspect of society, feminism has been the thought more frequently advocated and used by feminists. The relationship between feminism and translation theory has developed greatly in the 21st century. The connection of feminism and translation involves the courses of their interaction, their common traits, and the main impacts of feminism on translation theory. My essay introduces the viewpoints of feminist translation theory, analyzes the impacts of feminism on translation, such as it has shifted the focus from the translators’ subordinate position to the translators’ subjectivity, and illustrates the necessity of feminism in translation through some translational examples. Moreover, this paper further points out the gender issue in translation and daily life, and advises people to take a right attitude to treat the problems. The aim in this thesis is to help people to have a general idea of feminist translation theory, put feminist translation theory to good use and solve some actual problems in translation practice successfully.
