Abstract: Last summer vacation, I attended an advanced oral English training in the Web International English School where I experienced a kind of interactive English teaching method. It is an English class that is full of communication between the teacher and the students, the student and student. The content in the class has covered various aspects in English reading, listening, speaking and writing. Through the students’ participation and communication with the teachers on their own initiative, the “mute English” under the traditional English class teaching has been overcome. Based on this learning experience, I have chosen this subject as my study topic for my thesis. In this thesis, I first carry out a survey about the current English class teaching using a questionnaire. And then I analyze completely and objectively the reason why students feel dissatisfied with the present teaching situation and are interested in an interactive English teaching method. Second, some theories about interactive teaching have been explained. On the basis of these theories, I put forward some new interactive teaching modes and teaching strategies. At last, I compare the effect of the traditional English teaching method with that of the interactive English teaching method and even draw a useful conclusion which is expected to be useful to our English teaching in class.
Key Words: Interactive teaching; interactive teaching method; interactive teaching strategy
