Abstract: Stephen Krashen’s Monitor Theory has enjoyed considerable prominence in Second Language Acquisition. This theory consists of five central hypotheses and several factors which influence SLA and which is concerned with these hypotheses. Reading is always a problem during the second language learning. In order to make clear the problems that learners encounter, a questionnaire is conducted, in which the reading problems are shown. This essay mainly analyzes how to settle the reading problems and what an efficient reading process should be according to Krashen’s hypotheses. The aim of this essay is to come up with several effective methods to guide learners to acquire English language.
