The topic aims to reveal the problems in the present foreign language teaching in the junior middle school, and find the methods to settle them. The potential problems in the present foreign language teaching are in many facets, such as teacher-centered, teaching methods and learner autonomy. With the development of the society, these problems will hinder the development of English teaching and learning. So in order to adapt to the social development, it’s necessary to adjust and improve the classroom method. According to the present problems, the author posts forward six methods to improve the teaching and learning: ①continuing to intensify the teaching of basic knowledge; ②changing the traditional teacher-centered and test-oriented pattern; ③training and keeping students’ interest; ④training students’ learning strategies in their studies; ⑤making use of the Information Technology to organize the contextual teaching; ⑥evaluating the students correctly.
