With the complex structures of single-sentence and complex sentences, long sentences’ features are the multiple level and large capacity. They can be used to accurately express rich ideological content. There are usually three reasons that long sentences are created. First, there are too many modifiers; second, there are too many union ingredients; third, the structure in long sentences is too complicated. The longer the sentence and the more complicated the structure is, the more equivocal the meaning and the more difficult the understanding and the translation is.
This article utilizes the translation theory, accompanying with translation practice, compares the differences between English and Chinese with synthesis and analysis. This article tries to conclude some convenient and useful solutions to sorts of questions lies in the course of translating English long sentences into Chinese.
