Abstract
Research Aim: In the study of two cases along with discussion of the definition of public relations and criterion of translation the author aims to show the underlying connection between the two.
Research Method: theory and practice
Research Result: public relations activities determine the style and ways of dealing with translation, i.e. different patterns of translation in different public relations activities and even different ways in different parts of an activity, one’s translation must be in accordance with the surroundings, one should not translate for translation’s sake but for public relations activities’ sake. The interpreter often tried to keep the original style in trying to use the similar sentence structures for this is an effective way to keep the form as mentioned in A Course in English-Chinese Translation, “direct translation is helpful in keeping the original style and tone.” The translations has to not only keep the original content, but also the original form especially the original similes, metaphors, images, national and local customs and conditions. keep the original style, i.e., the original national style, age style, stylistic style and the author’s own special language style and so on, and the translator shouldn’t arbitrarily breach and change the original style, neither substitute the original style with the translator’s own one.
If you want to do those well, you must be great enough on your professional skills and know well about the public relation.
Conclusion: To be excellent personnel for public relations, you should master not only your professional skills, but also take many things of many aspects into consideration when translating for public relations’ sake, it more important. Public relations activities determine the style and ways of dealing with translation, i.e.
