Abstract: As Co and Ni are often symbiosised or associated in deposit and their resources are shortage, become the separation and recovery of Co and Ni more important Through the investigation of relative literatures, the technical status at home and abroad is summarized. The current conventional methods have chemical precpitation ,extraction and ion-exchange resin. The related research and application are introduced in detail. The other methods are simple introduced. Meanwhile the author’s ideas and practice of coupling separation technology are introduced.The extraction was coupled with electrodialysis. The mixed solution of NiCl2 • 6H2O and CoCl2 • 6H2O were separated. The rules of the process behavior were descripted systematically. The effects of separating conditions, such as the types of extractant, the concentration of raw materials, the flow rate, the current strength, the way of adding acid,recycling treatment, the reusing of extractant, The results indicated that the separating effect of P507 was better than P204; low concentration of raw materials and small current strength and moderate flow rate and at one time adding were favorable to separated; the process could be multiple operated, the feed solution was cycle, the extractant was re-saponification to reuse; the current efficiency was more than 80%.
