The Educational Thought and Practice of Chen Ji-tang
Abstract
As the main organizational leader of Guangdong construction from 1920s to 1930s，Chen Ji-tang attached great importance to the development of education. He thought that education is the career of establishing a state and establishing fundamentals which related to survive or perish of a country. He advocated focusing on the cultivation of personality and the cultivation of practical talents, focusing on multi-level education and promoting equality education.During the period of governing in Guangdong, he cared and supported of education and made great efforts to the development of education. His educational theory and practice have a big effect on the educational and economical development of Gaungdong. What achievements in educational development is one most commendable aspects of his performance in Guangdong，make that time of Guangdong’s social order good, the price stability, the social economy got greater development and people’s lives stability, leaving some place achievements what are worthy to be commenorated by future generations.
