Abstract
Rongzhou, an administrative region established in Tang Dynasty, was one of the most important political centers, economic centers, military centers and cultural centers of Lingnan at that time. Envoy was the local martial chief of in border areas of Tang Dynasty, first established in 733 year, in the beginning, Ci-shi or military governor serve in this position concurrently. In Tianbao Period envoy had become a high-ranking official in charge of politics, economy, military affairs, culture, education and fiscal supervision. The domicile place, serving period and other things of successive envoy are different from each other, but their contribution to Rongzhou can not be neglected. Politically they improve the status of Rongzhou, economically they help farmers till and weave and develop production, militarily they pacify rebellion and stabilize society, culturally and educationally they run school and etc, all of these promote the development of Rongzhou.
