Title: Study on the Effect of the Safety Culture in Delivery Room Nursing
ABSTRACT
Objectives: The effect of implementing safety culture in delivery room nursing is investigated and analyed, which also provides evidence for implementng safety culture for delivery room or the whole hospital.
Methods: The paper selects 10 delivery rooms which implementing safety culture and another 10 that not implementing safety culture as research objects, analyzes the complaint count and satisfaction score of those patients in the selected delivery room and safety accident count of the rooms from logs. One sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test is used to infer whether the population is normal distribution according to sample. Test of homogeneity of variances is used to verify whether the variances of different samples are equal. Variance analysis is used to eastimate whether the control variables make a significant influence to result, which makes sure the effect of safety culture in delivery room nursing.
Results:
1. The count of the delivery room nursing complaints decreases significantly (Sig.=0.000) through implementing safety culture.
2. The count of the Delivery room nursing safety accident decreases significantly (Sig.=0.013) through implementing safety culture.
3. The score of the Delivery room nursing patient satisfaction increases significantly (Sig.=0.000) through implementing safety culture.
4. The variation magnitudes caused by implementing safety culture of the complaint count, accident count and patient satisfaction score are different. The variation magnitude of the accident count decrease is the largest (19.8%),the next is of the patient satisfaction (16.1%), and the last is of the complaint count (13.6%).
5. It takes about 4 months to receive the satisfied effect in implementing safety culture; The patient cognization to safety is lagging behind safety culture implementing; the complainant is more difficult to approve the positive changes than common patients.
Conclusion: Implementing safety culture helps decreasing complaint count and accident count and increasing patient satisfaction score significantly; Implementing safety culture is suggested lasting about 4 months; The propagating time should be longer; Updating the complaint cognization to safety is the key emphasis in work.
