At the age of multimedia and information, the requirements of information processing, storage and transmission have become increasingly evident. Now multimedia information processing, such as the general network video, images storage , has become an indispensable part of people's lives.
First of all, this paper introduces the related technical basis of the active image, such as a series of standards that regulated by Moving Pictures Experts Group and a series of Video Coding Standard H.26ｘthat established by ITU-T and introduces common lossy compression, lossless compression. Secondly this paper focuses on introducing the MPEG-4 coding data compression standard, the Features of MPEG-4, active video compression coding model, important technical-- macro and so on.
The emphasis of this paper is compression coding of the active image that based on MPEG-4. For the compression coding of the active image, it is composed of AV targets, MPEG-4 standard, etc. And the important Constitutes have DMIF, data plane, buffer management, and real-time recognition, audio codec, video codec, and the scene description. On the base of the theory, I realize the compression coding of the active image, and the software can compress and store video stream and achieve the request of the normal broadcast.
Finally, this paper summarizes the applications and developmental prospects of MPEG-7 and MPEG-21 that belong to MPEG series.
