RESEARCH ON THE CAUSES AND
MEASURES OF SINO-U.S. TRADE IMBALANCE
ABSTRACT
The bilateral trade has been developing steadily since China and the United States established diplomatic relations in 1976. Until 2006, the United States has become the second trade partner and the largest foreign investor of China. At the same time, China also has become America's third trade partner and fastest-growing export market.
However, with the growth of trade, America’s trade deficit for China has been growing day and day, thus becoming concerned and the focus of attacks of the United States. The trade disputes and the frictions are unceasing and the nun-economy factors have made tremendous influence on the normal development, which arose political and economic disputes. It can be said the economic problem politicization has become the main question that the Chinese and America must face in the field of economy and trade. It’s not good for the trade development between the United States and China, this article makes some preliminary research on America’s trade deficit with China, from political and economic perspective of different analysis of the cause of the Sino-U.S. trade imbalance and the reasons it expands, it also states the impacts that the bilateral trade imbalance brought and all sorts of questions that the bilateral imbalance brought about. We should proposes our countermeasures of how our country to improve the trade imbalance.
The paper altogether divides into five parts all together. The first part is an introduction, which mainly elaborates the question of trade imbalance, domestic and foreign present research situation and research goal, significance, content as well as anticipated innovation spot.
The second part is Chinese and American trade history and the present situation. While reviewing Chinese and American trade history, it explains the present situation of trade imbalance between America and China by figure, graph and other proof method.
The third part analyses the reasons for the trade imbalance between China and the U.S. It illustrates the reasons from the two aspects including technical statistics and the economic factors.
The fourth part studies the influence that the trade imbalance between China and U.S. brings about, including the influences to America, to China and to bilateral economic and trade relations.
The fifth part is the countermeasures of how to improve the present situation of trade imbalance.
