The English Translation of Chinese Tourist Materials
Abstract
With the rapid development of the Chinese tourism industry, more and more foreign tourists will come to China for a visit. Although not all foreign tourists are from English-speaking countries, English, as a common language in today's world, has become the most important medium of communication when international tourist activities are involved. As a result, tourism English has become popular and a special variety of English. More Chinese tourist materials are translated into English for the benefit of foreign tourists. But it is not always easy to do so, and many problems exist in using tourism English and especially in tourism English translation because of the specialty of tourism English and the differences between Chinese and English caused by the big gap of understanding between Chinese and Western cultures. In this case, the essay first aims to show the three principles used in the translation of Chinese tourism materials, and then analyze the techniques of translating tourist materials in Chinese into English.
