The English education in China originated in the free education initiated by the Protestants to China in early 19th century, with Morrison Education School as the leading representative. The school was the first to introduce Western current teaching methods and thus commenced the Western education mode in China, which created the history of church education activities in modern China and actively promoted the combination of Chinese traditional education with Western features. The paper mainly probes into its education pattern of multi-skilled personnel training with English as teaching language which still has its referential significance to our present English teaching and learning mode.
