ABSTRACT
This paper first gives a detailed introduction of the background of Chinese neologisms. It generalizes its definition from sorts of opinions of different scholars and its significance of translating Chinese neologisms correctly. What’s more, the paper introduces some improper translation methods, such as redundancy, ignorance of cultural differences, inconsistency of register, Chinglish .Then the paper introduces Bassnett’s cultural translation theory and translates Chinese neologisms from this theory. Thus conclude the basic methods in the translation of Chinese neologisms, that is literary translation, literary translation plus annotation, free translation, substitution, transliteration.
