ABSTRACT
The paper first studies Britain and China's social system and the institution of marriage in the eighteenth century, and find out the similarities and differences between them. And then I will expound the women’s attitude to marriage in these two works by comparing Xue Baochai and Charlotte’s attitude to marriage, Lin Daiyu and Elizabeth's attitude to marriage and its background.
