Abstract: Gone With the Wind, an all-time best seller by Margaret Mitchell is a legendary recollection of the last brilliance of the Old South. And the most striking heroine---- Scarlett O’Hara, whose unique life experience with tears and blood, and her love story with Rhett Butler touches almost every reader’s heart. My degree paper mainly uses the methods of analysis and giving examples to have a comprehensive study on Scarlett’s marital tragedy. The conclusion is drawn from both the external and internal parts of her marital tragedy, to help readers have a more profound and comprehensive understanding of Scarlett.
